                               WEB DEVELOPER                        

 

The Government of Jamaica has received a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to assist in financing the Information and Communications Technology Project (ICT).  The ICT project is being implemented through the Ministry of Industry Technology Energy and Commerce (MITEC).

The objectives of the ICT project are structured in four components:

 

  • Strengthening of MITEC to enable it to play a leading role in increasing Jamaica’s e-readiness
  • Support for the increased use of ICT in the public sector
  • Support for expanding internet access in low-income communities

 

MITEC is seeking a Consultant to assist the Project Manager by developing and maintaining the ICT project related Web Sites.  This will entail coordinating the receipt of content, as well as publishing this content to the World Wide Web. The Consultant will assist in the specification, procurement and implementation of GOJ ICT infrastructure.

Applications for consultancy service of the Web Developer should come from IDB member countries. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Individuals wishing to offer these services should possess a recognized qualification in Web Development and Database Design.

EXPERIENCE

·         At least 3 years work in the Internet website field.

·         At least 2 years website development experience, with appropriate portfolio of successfully completed projects.

·         Demonstrable track record working with W3C standards

·         Development of web enabled application to allow establishment of benchmarks, entry of data by multiple users across the web, report generation to indicate performance vs. benchmarks.

·         Track record in training and knowledge transfer.

·         Strong English Language communication skills (written)

 

DURATION

The consultancy is expected to commence in April 2007. The Consultant’s participation is expected to be two (2) years with an option to renew.
